Garden Gîte

Garden gite at Village House in France

Stay in our charming garden gîte next to the house in a village in the Charente-Maritime in SW France close to Saintes and the beaches. More pictures to follow, but please contact us for details.

Our recently converted garden gîte was formerly a wine store in our small barn. It has been tastefully converted and now provides a perfect get-away for a couple or two friends holidaying together. The gîte is attached to the main house but there is a garden wall and hedge between the two gardens making it quite private and tucked away. The gîte is accessed from the larger garden and has its own entrance from the side road.

The garden gîte has its own walled, sun trap patio with table and chairs for outdoor living. Gîte guests also have use of the larger garden which is shared with the main house.

Downstairs there is an entrance from the patio area via double doors to the open plan living room. There is a sofa which seats two; this can be converted to provide an extra bed should it be required. There is also a large, comfortable wicker chair. In the alcove is a cupboard for storing clothes. For indoor dining there is a bistro table and two chairs. The kitchen area has fitted cupboards, sink, electric oven, gas and electric hob, washing machine and a large fridge. The ground floor has under-floor electric heating. Stairs off the living room lead to the first floor and landing which has an exposed stone wall and oeil de boeuf window.

Upstairs  there is a double bedroom with large bed, bedside drawers, a wicker chair and a hanging rail for clothes. This room has an exposed stone wall and the window gives lovely views across the gardens. There is also a shower room with walk-in shower, basin and W.C. There are good shelves with storage baskets. There is a heated towel rail and a velux window.

Note: We will not let the gîte when the main house is being let to others.

We would be happy to let the gîte when we ourselves are staying in the main house. Alternatively if a larger family or group wish to holiday together then renting both the gîte and the house could be an ideal choice.
