The region, formerly Poitou-Charentes, is now called Nouvelle-Aquitaine, and the house and gîte are situated in the Charente-Maritime départment which borders the Gironde estuary and the Atlantic Ocean and enjoys a very pleasant climate.

The house and gîte are easily accessible from Bordeaux airport, La Rochelle airport, Angoulême TGV station, or from the A10 Paris-Bordeaux Autoroute. Limoges and Poitiers airports are a little further.

It is an easy 5-hour drive from the Channel port of St Malo; a little further from Caen.
